Definition

37% sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solution — the ion conductor. Specific gravity at full charge: 1.270-1.290 (SLI), 1.280-1.300 (heavy duty). Electrolyte level must cover plates by 10-15mm. Impurities (iron, copper, chloride) accelerate self-discharge.

Construction & Design

Flooded (free liquid), absorbed (AGM), or gelled (silica-thickened). Acid filling uses vacuum or gravity methods. Purity >99.9% required.
